Willow Smith Is ‘21st Century Girl’ in New Video - Softpedia Posted: Willow Smith is back on the scene with the official video for her second single, "21st Century Girl." The just released video is shot in the desert and shows the 10-year-old with friends building an entire city out of sand – check it out below. The young star has repeatedly said that she's only recording music and putting out singles because she's having fun with it – and this is more than apparent with the brand new video. As noted above, it was shot in the desert and has the same concept as the vid for "Whip My Hair," namely that friends can make anything more fun, and the impossible possible. After an extended introduction showing an old lady digging bones from the sand, Willow materializes. She instantly realizes that she too can make things out of sand and proceeds to it. She and her friends (who may have come to be from wolves or sand as well, it's not certain) start pulling out stuff: skateboards, shoes, a bike, a car. Towards the end of the video, they're pulling out entire buildings for a brand new town. Right before the end, Willow passes the knowledge to an even younger girl than herself – which hints a follow-up will come some day. Speaking about the video, Willow said in a recent interview both it and the song are meant to send fans a very simple message: be true to yourself, and always try to learn more and grow. "To be a 21st century girl means that you're practicing at what you want to do, and that you're being adventurous, and you're being confident, and you're being yourself," Willow says, as cited by Monsters And Critics. "I want people to feel the emotions that I did when I was recording the songs," she add. One of these emotions is love for her friends and family, without whom she says she wouldn't be able to do this. Check out Willow Smith's video for "21st Century Girl" below. Enjoy.
