ATHENAEUM opened its first store located in Boston 18 months ago. The new Hingham location is the beginning of an exciting growth plan for New England. Over the next few years, several stores are projected to open including San Francisco, CA; Huntington Beach, CA; Miami, FL and Denver, CO. With professional riders at the helm, skaters, as well as their parents will be able to seek advice on their new set ups from riders they have come to idolize on popular media outlets like YouTube and Vimeo. "Not only can I advise them on their components and then build their board, but I can send them out of the store with a free ATHENAEUM t-shirt signed by me" said Dane Webber, a professional rider for Loaded Boards, who will co-manage the Hingham location."We are very excited we will be open just a few short months ahead of Hingham's first skatepark at Bare Cove," said Jeff Brink, Store Manager. "The Derby Street Shoppes is a perfect location for us, just a few miles from the skate park. The newly built park will attract families across the South Shore of Massachusetts and Cape Cod. ATHENAEUM will blend well in the Derby Street community. We are bringing a truly high quality skateboard store to the community." Professional Riders and Top Brands The Hingham store will carry a very large skateboard and longboard inventory normally only found at the online stores. More than 15 unique brands of skateboard decks including Plan B, Element, Girl, Foundation and Zoo York will be sold at ATHENAEUM. Will the new Beckham addition be a girl? - Daily Echo Posted: 10 Jan 2011 03:56 PM PST Will the new Beckham addition be a girl?9:00am Tuesday 11th January 2011 SO, team Beckham is expecting another player. It was announced on Sunday that football star David Beckham and his fashion designer wife Victoria will welcome a new addition to their family in the summer. It means baby number four for the Beckhams who already have three boys: Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, eight, and five-year-old Cruz. There was no word of whether the latest addition to the Beckham brood would be a boy or a girl. However, the couple have made no secret in the past they would like a little girl. Thirty-six-year-old Victoria is thought to have become increasingly broody since her younger sister Louise announced she is expecting her fourth child "Her last scan showed she was expecting a daughter – something the Beckhams yearn for," said a family friend. David, 35, is equally keen for his sons to have a sister. After Romeo was born, he said: "I'd love a little girl. I've got two beautiful sons and would like a girl in the future, but we'll see." Victoria even ditched her diet of sugarsnap peas, carrots and spinach high-carb nosh such as pasta, potatoes, rice and brown bread to boost her energy and ensure the best chances of pregnancy. But the happy news seems to have come out of the blue, especially after Victoria gave an interview in UK Vogue magazine stating: "Maybe one day another baby, but at this stage I think the chances of a girl are quite slim." Victoria has previously said: "I'm really girlie. I'd love to dress a little girl up." Of course, it's understandable that one with such a love of fashion should want an heiress to pass her exquisite handbags on to. But what would be the implications for the baby if the Beckhams achieved their wish? On the one hand, she might be dressed like a little princess as compensation for the years of yearning. On the other she may turn into a bit of a tomboy, tagging along with her brothers on their skateboards or dabbling with a football. She may even be dressed in her brothers' hand-me-downs. Think that won't happen to an A-lister child? Just look at Shiloh Pitt who has been snapped wearing older brother Maddox's cast-offs. According to scientists, a girl's brothers have a crucial effect on the woman she becomes. Research shows brothers keep their female siblings on the straight and narrow by stopping them from growing up too quickly. Girls with big brothers also go through puberty later, possibly because of the shared testosterone in a home. It has also been suggested that carrying a boy during pregnancy uses up a lot of a woman's reserves, so that there is less to nourish the next child, whose health suffers as a result. A 2008 study at the University of Glasgow in Scotland also revealed that older brothers mean smaller siblings – so the fourth Beckham, whatever gender, could be diminutive – and that having an older brother may reduce chances of reproductive success. Another question begs to be answered: If they do have a son, how will they react? A trend among expectant mothers has been coined "gender disappointment", where desperation for a particular sex is so strong that they go to great measures to ensure it is conceived, and consider termination if the methods fail.
