CAPE CORAL: A 5-year-old girl died after she was struck by a pickup truck in the 800 block of NE 11th Terrace, according to officials with the Cape Coral Police Department. An eight-year-old girl was also taken to HealthPark with non-life threatening injuries. Police say at this time, the children are not being identified because the family has not been notified. Police say the initial investigation indicates that the girls were riding down a driveway on a skateboard. They say it appears that they were laying flat on the skateboard as it went down the driveway. The driver, 27-year-old Jacob Aaron Amann, was heading westbound on NE 11th Terrace when he hit the girls. Amann was driving in his 2004 Ford F-150 pickup truck when the crash occurred. Police say a traffic homicide investigation is underway. This is Cape Coral's fifth traffic fatality of 2010.  Five Filters featured article: Into the Abyss.
